Opportunity Details

Befrienders are urgently required throughout the Derbyshire Dales for Readycall Macmillan. We provide befriending and practical support (such as shopping, dog walking, or transport to cancer related appointments) to people aged 60 and over, who are, or have been affected by cancer and other life-limiting conditions and those who care for them.

Chatting over a cuppa, or taking a gentle stroll can offer much needed contact and companionship to someone who is lonely or isolated in your local area. Time commitment needed can be flexible and we provide training and out of pocket expenses.

The area covered is the Derbyshire Dales, which includes: Ashbourne, Bakewell, Brailsford, Doveridge, Hathersage, Hartington and Matlock. We have 2 offices, one in Ashbourne and one in Bakewell. Please do contact us to have a chat about joining our friendly team of volunteers! Minimum age is 18.
